I’d love to salute the author of this best-selling series, E.L. James, for making every reader’s imagination possible because of the movie. Well, who doesn’t want to see a real-life Christian Grey & Anastasia Steele, right?
I’m a fan of the series, which left me really aching for a remake—it’s not like I’m telling you guys that the movie wasn’t great—because I just think it didn’t give that much justice for the book at all.
From 50 shades of grey to darker then to freed…I’m so hooked! And like I’m so in love with the books—I read them repeatedly and I actually intend to read them again tonight, then tomorrow and then next week—I like the attack of the story—as well as the fervid BDSM thing and that is another story—like the Bella Swan-like attitude of Ana, that was really dope and the forever-smitten-Edward-look of Mr. Grey, that was really cloth-dropping looks.
So let’s go back to the movie; I love the movie but I think I was a bit mortified because the scenes were too fast and weren’t that much elaborated just like in the book. All in all, the movie is beyond satisfaction but still a little fast phase than I ever expected. Well, if this will be the case, I would love to watch a 6 hour length movie just as to give justice of what is written in the book—super long movies are way better because everything is detailed and executed ardently—just like Gone with the Wind!
This is not a full review of whatever is not in the movie—I’m not a legal critic who was paid to say something good or bad about anything—I’m merely stating whatever is written in my head while watching the movie and comparing it with the book.
Hence, my 50 shades of wondering and brooding while watching the movie;
- Where is the first person POV? I’m kinda expecting that at the first establishing shots of the film, Ana will tell a story—or something like that—I thought I will hear her say her thought about Grey and about everything that she sees—which was obviously established in the book.
- Still…Where is the first person POV!!!! I’m really expecting that Ana will roll her eyes at Kate and a voice over will say something—like ah! Kate is annoying and she had to make me agree to do the interview—but never happened.
- Alright, the blondies! Pretty ladies, but I would’ve wanted to see them smile with a bit longer cameo duration.
- Ana! Why are you so perfect? Well, we know that but you don’t. She’s like the epitome of a goddess. She looks real to me, like a character from the book that jumped out of the book to say hi—well, she really did!
- OOOOPS! That embarrassing fall! I would’ve cried on the floor, if I was the one who experience that! Haha!
- I’m smitten, Mr. Grey! First glance and she’s melting…oh, actually all of us melted like ice cream sitting under the sun. I should bite my lip now.
- Pencils kind of looked sexier than me! Very OCD-like when I saw the pencils on the table. It was then after Mr. Grey hand it over to Ana that made me look pretty excited.
- Again, this is the moment I need to hear the voice over! I was expecting something like “Oh, God I’m nervous! Why is he looking at me like this?” Just that one! Look how vulnerable the thing is…I know this is not a Lizzie McGuire movie but hell, I really need Ana’s POV!
- I should interview a bachelor! That thought came into my mind even before the movie though…like wow! So journalists like me have the advantage to pick someone we like. Ha! I’m joking!
- Can the scene be any heart-melting? I’m torn! That agony in their eyes as the elevator closes. There is really something with the elevator!
- She breaths and the rain pours! It was a bit awkward though but just like how it was imagined, c’mon, Grey is hot, she needs to cool down, eh?
- Kate Kavanagh! She’s still the sorority girl in So Undercover Movie! I can’t move on, I still think of her as Sasha! Where is the fire there? Fix your hair, Sasha!
- The Flip Phone….bow!
- The hardware scene, wait, what? I’m trying to figure out why everything went so fast from the interview and to this… and yeah, it was rather weird when it seems like Christian was actually waiting for Ana to pass by the aisle. The man knows his subject, as I see it.
- A masking tape connoisseur. It sounded hot, admit it!
- Little smirk, please. I’m not surprise because he is really that kind of man who doesn’t smile all the time.
- Just when you thought hearts and flowers are sweet, wait when someone gives you books!
- That drunken stupor, Ana! I like her when she’s drunk—even when I was just reading the book—she’s naughty and that kills Christian Grey so much!
- Jose, Jose, Jose…I saw you take pictures of Grey and now, you just jumped into someone full of shits! You just smothered yourself all over the place now that Mr. Grey is around. Again, it was all too fast. I also never heard him apologize to Ana days after, which was elaborated in the book.
- The Hotel…Okay, I just died! He fucking bit the toast like a pro! Oh God! He was so hot! Can someone give me a taste of that medicine! 😛
- LATERS, BABY! I don’t know if it was just me, but I think Elliot just blew the line better than Grey! Elliot was sexy when he said that, while Grey was a little too awkward. (Maybe it’s just me.)
- That touch…Yes Mr. Grey! Your touch is making every girl squirm! I can’t even comment something bad….it was nakedly hot!
- Charlie Tango! Yes! Why does it look so damn sexy even if he’s just buckling Ana on the seat? The damn heli is such pricey, I can see. Well, empire!
- OOOOPS! Elevator! Ana’s hair was hilarious! Comic part of the movie tho!
- Here comes your favorite place, Ana. The Escala is so manly and I can actually say that this is way better than I pictured it while reading the book.
- Everything is fast phase!
- The Red Room of Pain! How fascinating! Ha! Actually it was really a time machine to the gladiator era! Floggers and all. I never thought they actually look a bit terrifying.
- Where is your inner goddess now, Ana? This is how disappointed I am because there was no voice over involved in the movie. In the book, the thoughts of Ana are the ones I was looking forward to hear! Well, at least I can still read ‘em on the book, where her inner goddess is jumping and squirming eh?
- I’m all fucked up! Why is he so hot? Man, his body is like a chiseled statue!
- Kisses and all the hot scenes! I always feel like melting whenever I see Ana’s eyes, sparkling as if she’s a little kid who just saw a rainbow. (Well, like she’s introduced to a very colorful world, I can see!) But one more thing, the Tampon scene wasn’t there! (That very disturbing scene, yeah, thank God it wasn’t there though!)
- Do you really have to get me going? I can believe I’m reacting so much with this film. I feel like this was a movie that just came out form the time machine and everything went from slow motion to fast forward. I haven’t seen some of the heart-melting scenes at all.
- Oh yeah! That foil packet. At least, that is a safe sex right there!
- I still feel like the book gave it more elaboration and a better one!
- Yes, Christian is still a sweet bastard!
- Oh! No you just made feel like I really need to book again.
- I think Mia Grey is deprived of her exposure. Like wow! 45 seconds cameo for Rita Ora and yet she’s the one who advertises the movie a lot! Please give her at least two to three scenes on the next movie though!
- Taylor is as well, deprived from his exposure. I was kind of in pain because Ana, talks to Taylor as much as she talks to Jose and Kate, yet…yeah, I know!
- Oh I almost forgot! Ana, dances awkwardly. And I need the inner goddess again!
- Nice meeting you, Mr. Grey? Okay that scene seems to be a hoax. I’m surprise—still—how the scenes go so fast like a cheetah! Did you notice? Ana didn’t even wonder why Grey was there! And yeah, she should’ve asked for Kate which is fairly normal in real life. (In the book, she most likely did worry that Kate might hear her moan)
- I’m all like, wow! It jumped from bed scene then graduation in just seconds! I’m still in the zone of having Mr. Grey beside me and then bam! I’m hearing these ladies talking about my man! Yeah, Imma tell you he’s gay for you not to think of him sleeping in your beds! Ha! Also! Not to mention, he will surely give me a red car tonight, bitches!
And give it to me now, last 10 on my countdown.
- I still feel bad for the inner goddess. Wasn’t able to see her jumping!
- Scenes are way too fast, considering they should be elaborated more! Not everyone read the book and will easily get how the story became like that. One second they were having an interview then seconds after she’s already signing the NDA!
- I feel like I’m watching EL James’ dream come to life. Every writer’s wish is to see their works come to life! I feel really teary eyed while watching it.
- Who doesn’t want something so fancy? I want to see more of the lavish life style of the Grey family and I was kinda hoping to really enjoy the whole differences of Ana and Grey in the movie as much as I did in the book.
- The movie is getting closer to the ending! The movie is really way too fast. I cry for all of the readers of the book who were actually looking for something that will actually claim that this movie was chiseled from the book.
- Cinematography though. Great!
- Why did you spank her again? I didn’t see that coming Grey! I know the next scene but it was rather surprising!
- She’s crying now! Perfect! This is the scene I was actually waiting for! I didn’t feel anything though! I was more touched by the book in this scene…literally.
- That elevator scene again. I’m hurt! Oh God! The agony!
- Now, let’s go back to darker! I’m trying to stitch the scene in my head—I liked the second book actually, better than the first. More drama eh?—I’m all well, sitting on my couch and enjoying the fact that, hopefully, the darker is better than this.
All in all, I loved it so much! Have to give them two thumbs up to that!
Movie and books are well loved, but still, movies adapted from the original books are really different. This is my opinion though, and thanks EL James for making the book come to life!
