Aside from the release of Captain Marvel from Marvel Studios, here it comes another ‘Captain Marvel’ (Comics speaking) from the DC Universe. Yes, Shazam was supposed to be the Captain Marvel of the DC Universe but since there’s a possible legal issues with Marvel Comics, they dropped the idea and published him as Shazam instead.

Well, if you asked those comic fans, you’ll know some major changes that the movie had compare to the original one and I think it is just right on every DCU Movies, getting released to have a comparison from the original comics (New52), coz admit it, DCU has been a little confusing lately because of the changes they’re making. However, the changes fits the film well and I think it gives justice for what’s worth.

Last April 5, the movie has gone up and jazz in the cinemas and as a PG-13 movie, Shazam is a family friendly movie-with the humor and all-it caters to all ages even those young at heart.

Shazam is about a foster kid named Billy Batson played by Asher Angel who was being so eager to find his mother who happened to have lost him when he was young. In order to follow the only tracks he had about his mother, Billy acted a little jerk and had to change foster family from another foster until he met the last family he had to stay with.

Fast forward, he met the wizard who has been searching for the right kid to pass his super powers to save the human kind from the 7 deadly sins-prisoned in a stone for a very long time-which escaped because one of the kids (Dr. Sivana played by Mark Strong) he called out long time back had memories of what happened and had found a way to reveal the mystery he was able to witnessed when he was as kid. Well, in the comis, Dr. Sivana is a mad scientist, so we should give them a little credit for that.

And then, yes, Billy turned into Shazam! (Played by Zachary Levi) You know how he did turn into that, it’s like Darna without the stone swallowing (Filipino superhero)-coz he had to say his name to be able to turn into a superhero- and while he is a superhero he still thinks like a kid, the Billy Batson you knew at the beginning of the movie.

Like the normal superhero movies, it focused on whatever the superhero give importance about; like when Billy met his mother finally but turns out his mother purposely lost him just to save her ass from being a young single mother and that made Billy realized that the foster family he has now is his real family in the end but like any other movies, they were kidnapped by Dr. Sivana for Billy to show up.

With the tension going and the whole town being in danger, Shazam was able to think of the best way to save lives and prevent the 7 deadly sins cause a catastrophe, he made his very own Shazam family-Well, on the original comics, they were Marvel Jr, Mary Marvel and etc-consist of Billy’s foster family, I bet you all like a spoiler, of course they’re all hot when they transformed. Shazam himself is a hottie but hey, you’ve got to see his fambam! Guys, a little spoiler, just like what I always do, Adam Brody and Ross Butler were two of them and it was a huge surprise and I bet that surprised is the most unexpected of em all.

Spoiler aside, the movie is a hit. It caters to all viewers and I cannot say anything bad about it aside from the to fast-forwardy the movie was but everything was okay. I believe DC Movies is getting their tracks back this time. DC movies gets better and better every film it releases.

And for the post credit scenes? There were two Hello!!!! if you read the New52, you’ll know that the talking caterpillar is Mr. Mind, who will be working with Dr. Sivana.

Well, the second was like the funniest scene, it’s as if they were imitating Aquaman by talking Shazam talking to a fish and it was hilarious.

And it was cool when Superman had a cameo, well, I’m hoping for a crossover soon. ayt? Well, who doesn’t?

Lesson learned in this movie, we are destined to be something we always wanted to be but there will come a time that the path you’ll take might reject you or accept you and either way, you should be the best version of yourself and believe in the people who are supporting you all the way because these people will be your motivation when you feel you’re about to raise your white flag.

This movie deserves 90% wonderroanne rating.

And yes, guys, I cannot wait for the Avengers: End Game. We all are!
