Roy McBride: I’m steady, calm. I slept well, no bad dreams. I am active and engaged. I’m aware of my surroundings and those in my immediate sphere. I’m attentive. I am focused on the essentials, to the exclusion of all else. I’m unsure of the future, but I’m not concerned. I will rely on those closest to me, and I will share their burdens, as they share mine. I will live and love. Submit.
Well, who said that Brad Pitt won’t be seen in the big screen anytime soon? The most awaited movie was released last week and I can’t wait to tell you more about it.
Ad Astra is a sci-fi movie that tackles the life of people on earth and how they explore the solar system through the use of the modern technology. Roy McBride played by Brad Pitt is an astronaut who is set to be in a mission to find out if his dad is still alive and at the same time saving the world from possible threats. But the challenge is, he doesn’t know where is father was and if he’s still alive. He learned how not to care too much of his surroundings including his wife just as to do his job without worrying about anything. He doesn’t know what to really feel when he sees the father whom he believed for a long time was dead.

During the mission, the team received an emergency call for assistance which led to losing the captain of their spaceship and with what happened, officials lost their trust to Roy to handle the mission; thinking that the mission is too personal for them. They have removed Roy from the mission to find his father but in the end, Roy was able to get into the spaceship by sneaking himself which led to the whole team thinking that he has a personal mission. The event led to them fighting and losing all of the passengers of the spaceship except from Roy.
Roy continued the mission by himself and found the spaceship that his father used 30 years ago on his mission. With a mission to destroy the spaceship, he entered the ship only to find out what he’s been looking for for a long time.
My thoughts? The movie is not what I expected it to be. Honestly, I kind of expected more. I wasn’t satisfied of whatever the movie showed. Everything was blurry from my point of view. I liked how they imagined the world could be, settling in two worlds. I liked how they put Applebee’s and Subway in the Moon and how they managed to make it more stylish to travel in a spaceship as if they were travelling through an airline.
I didn’t expect how the movie turnt, it’s like there’s so much more story to tell than Roy being chased by a space monkey and then continue to find his dad. I really wonder how the movie will be if they just gave more to the climax because there was no climax, where was it? How? A Scifi movie this extravagant deserves to have something really interesting. I like how the production went and cinematics but the story lacked something. I’m not a hater but since this is a review better yet I will tell everyone what I really feel about it.
Uhm, the presence of Liv Tyler as Brad Pitt’s wife made me liked the movie little more.

I know the movie was reviewed well and was named to be one of the movies most people watched this year but I wonder if all the viewers felt the same thing I did. The ending was rather gave me an awe than the feeling of being fulfilled. I wanted to know how things went and will be after the mission. It focused on the psyche analysis only which made me think that maybe this is rather an expose of a future problem if the time comes we have the same technology.
Oh well, the movie was great. I could give it a good rating but the story has some flaws which I find really not helping with me giving the rate.
I would give this 76% wonderroanne rating.
And for those who haven’t seen it, you can message me after you watch it and let’s see if we agree on something!
