Gabriel’s Inferno: A Moview

“I’m going to be thrown out of Paradise tomorrow, Beatrice. Our only hope is that you find me afterward. Look for me in Hell.”
Sylvain Reynard, Gabriel’s Inferno

A testify to a great book is of three total book series being loved by the masses and readers. Just last month, to my surprise, Passionflix has released a film adaption of Sylvian Reynard’s book entitled, Gabriel’s inferno-I have seen trailers last 2019-which is about a Dante specialist who fell in love with his student, whom he didn’t know was his Beatrice.

I won’t spill too much about it coz we will focus on the film and I believe it is a great time to make everyone read the book series before even watching the movie.

Let’s talk about the film which I’m sure many of you have no idea that was actually rolling until last May 29th. The film was directed by Tosca Musk, who made the film as close as possible to the book itself. Not to mention the cast,

Gabriel Emerson was played by Giulio Berruti and Julianne Mitchell played by Melanie Zanetti, Christa Peterson which everyone hates in the book was played by Margaux Brooke and also Paul Norris was played by James Andrew Fraser.

The whole film was two-hour-length which I’ve heard will be a 3-part series as well. The first part focused mainly on the meeting of Gabriel and Julia again after 6 years and boy, all of the details about it were actually matching the book, including the small details about Julia’s room, the bag and the dialogues/lines that Gabriel blurted out in the book, it was there which I’m sure my fellow readers will be delighted. I also found it so mesmerising how they put everything we remembered the book for in a creative way, of course the film has flaws but coming from a good start is definitely big.

A sample of it was one of the higlights of the first book;

“Ever had a beer before?” Gabriel grinned.
She shook her head.
“Then I’m glad I’m your first.”

“Have you ever held a boy’s hand before?” She shook her head, and he laughed softly. “Then I’m glad I’m your first.”

“Have you ever been kissed by a boy?”
She blushed deeply and shook her head.
“Then I’m glad I’m your first.”

“Have you ever fallen asleep in the arms of a boy before, Beatrice?”
She shook her head.
“Then I’m glad I’m your first.”

Have we requested this much to deserve that beauty of a film? As a book reader, and a fan of the whole series, I am expecting so much throughout watching the film and it didn’t disappoint. Even though the movie was 2-hour long, it wasn’t able to minimize everything and squeeze the book into 1 part but the film ended into the most perfect part of the book and I hope the second and third part will showcase more of it. I haven’t seen Paulina which is also I’m excited about.

About the characters, they all played like as if they came out of the book especially Christa Peterson and I hope Paulina will be the same too on the next coming film. I have so much to say about the film but I won’t spoil anything. The film is perfect for those who would like to watch it first before even reading the books or vice versa. The details, it’s as realistic as it gets as per the book.

I would give this a 90% wonderroanne rating.
