Emily in Paris: A Review

Netflix has became a part of every household nowadays; with all the quarantine and work from home, our go-to for movies is Netflix and other streaming apps available. And just this year, Netflix has released new movies and TV Series and that includes Emily in Paris.

Emily in Paris is a story of a marketing staff, Emily Cooper which is played by Lily Collins, who was sent to France to fill the position of her pregnant boss. Her job is to give an American perspective to the marketing aspect o the company called Savoir.

However, living in a foreign city with a foreign language has ups and downs. Emily has to start learning the language and learning the culture in order to fit it. And for an American who only speaks English and know bonjour in French, Emily has to strike harder to

impress her new boss and make her own mark in the company.

In my opinion, the Emily in Paris is most likely having the same vibe as the Carrie Diaries or the Sex and the City. I get this whole ‘I-wanna-change-the-world-one-step-at-a-time’ kind of energy from Emily. It has a little broadway musicale vibe too because of Mindy Chen, played by Ashley Park and of course it won’t get all these carrie aura if there’s no men in Emily’s life. Well, there are few…but I would love to introduce you to the guy you might not want to forget, Gabriel who is played by Lucas Bravo, a young chef who is fulfilling his dreams in the city of love.

The series focuses on friendship, love and well, a little of the sexual side too but still young adults can watch and relate especially those who are in their mid 20s and 30s. It might also make you want to live in France and work there.

When they say it is Paris, it should be Paris and what I mean about this is, I love how Fashion was also one of the highlights of the series because if you watch it, you’ll notice all the outfits worn by Lily Collins; they scream as if it’s Fashion Week everyday. And I must say, I love all her looks!

This is a 10-episode-long series which definitely needs a Season 2! And if this reaches Season 5 or longer, I might consider studying French and moving to France too! ha!

All I can say, this is a complete 97% wonderroanne rating! So, for those who haven’t watched it yet…pay your Netflix bill and watch it…NOW!
