Most of the victims were Asians which caused it to be linked to Asian hate crimes, however, according to the authorities, the reason for the shootings were merely racial hate but the suspect is allegedly suffering from sexual addiction. The suspect told the police that he had to eliminate the parlors as these are symbols for sexual temptation. Whether this crime is sexual addiction related or Asian hate crime, this shouldn’t have happened. No one should be hating someone’s race, religion and other that shows difference. We have seen too many news of mass shootings related to race and religion in the past. It deeply saddens me to see how vulnerable a person could be no matter what religion he believes in, what colour his skin or what language he speaks. Such cases never happened and considered as an isolated case because it’s not an isolated case anymore. Isn’t scary to be in a place where you are not accepted and anytime there might be someone who will attack you or shoot you from afar just because you don’t speak their language, you don’t look like them, don’t believe in their god and you are not from their descent? I believe many news reports have shown how the world is judging each other and mostly mass shootings are performed to kill because of hate to a certain gender, race and belief. Asians are widely spread all over the world but still, we are being identified as Asians due to the way we look and talk. You’ll know if a person is an Asian or from an Asian descent, we practically look different from most of races but that doesn’t mean we are not humans. I have friends who are from other countries and some have Asian blood too because they’re mixed races but never have I ever felt that as an Asian person in the group, we need to adjust and try to blend in. We share things like experiences and other cultural educating stuff which I think that people like the suspect may hate. I never have felt the need to protect myself as an Asian kid from other race not until now. Although I believe there are more understanding human who likes a peaceful world more than ever. There will b danger everywhere but I believe being an Asian doesn’t make us dangerous or whatsoever. The outcry for justice will never end. We are living in a world where we are loved or hated. In memories of those who died, may you have rest in peace and your family will be blessed. The Asian community is crying for this huge loss. In memories of those who died, may you have rest in peace and your family will be blessed. The Asian community is crying for this huge loss.
