Cruella: A Moview

This is entirely a new movie review but this is a classic. I love how villain-centred movies are getting into the limelight. Last year’s attempt was The Joker and other DC villains like Haley Quinn, and the others…and this year, it’s time to know the story behind the villain who hates black-spotted dogs, known as the 101 Dalmatians, or very well known as Cruella De Vil.

The movie Cruella spotted the cinemas last May 27 and still on going. It is starred by the ever so charming and effective actress Emma Stone and Emma Thompson; Two actress, same name and same remarkable impact in this film.

This is not the usual spoiler nor the usual review; I think I’m gonna hit the cracks by starting on telling you guys what I really think about this movie. We all know about the Dalmatians but we don’t know much about Cruella-well, aside from she’s some kind of freak who likes to skin Dalmatians to create coats. If this live action movie is derived from the real story who Cruella is, then I might say, it’s moving.

So let’s start with how they told Cruella’s story; but of course every story has a beginning and Cruella’s not different from any other

villain story, coz most of them start as a good person and end up as evil one for a reason.

The movie began when Cruella or should I say, Estella played by Emma Stone was still young and saw how three Dalmatian dogs killed her mother by attacking her, causing her to fall in to a cliff. Estella has a gift and she has the hands of a designer. She grew up with her two street friends and they became professional pick pocketers who often victimized tourists and locals however despite the dirty job, Estella has always been dreaming of becoming a fashion designer.

She adores the fashion legend, Baroness von Hellman, played by Emma Thompson who happens to be the last person Estella’s mother met before she died. With such luck, Estella was able to get a job under the Baroness and surprisingly, her gifts were noticed by the Baroness. But turned out, Baroness has so much secret to keep and it has something to do with Estella which in the movies was revealed but of course I’m a little nicer today, not much spoilers.

The Verdict

The whole movie was modern and out of the ordinary and I love how they focus on fashion because Cruella was basically known as a fashion statement trying to use animal cruelty to get the materials she wanted. The plot for me was a little more focused on how Estela became Cruella but not of any bit about of the 101 Dalmatians which I think the main purpose of the movie however, I wonder if they make a follow up movie with this now that Cruella got everything she wanted, her rich life and her darkness.

Characters, yes remarkable, I love Emma Stone as ever! She really played Cruella so well. And the whole fashion theme suits her.

Basically while watching Cruella I felt like she’s a different character, not the character who wanted to skin the dogs but a character who wants to prove something. Remember The Joker, yes, the feeling is mutual it’s like the movie has let us enter in the heart and mind of a villain. Like what’s really in their minds, right?

Even so, I like how they established still, the importance of family and some other lesson in life. Disney does that, apparently. The whole movie is not too shabby or sappy but it was in all good measure of character build up and development. I like how it prosper to something bad yet so good.

I’m gonna give this 90% wonderroanne rating!

If you haven’t watched it yet, then please do!
