Just this week, the continuation of the thriller movie A Quiet Place was released and it is remarkable and exciting. You wanna know why? Because yeah, we still need that answers we have been looking for since 2018, like what happened to the Abbott Family? We’re they able to kill all the monsters? or how about the baby and Marcus? What happened to them?
Okay fine, we all know the Quiet Place’s story, well, at least we do, like this is where blind monsters are killing people. How? Well, they have this very strong sense of hearing (noise-sensitive) which makes it harder for people to move and communicate with sounds coz theses creatures can hear even a slight scratch from afar.
In the first movie, we all saw the aftermath of the suspenseful event in the Abbott Family’s life. Evelyn played by Emily Blunt and Lee, Evelyn’s husband played by John Krasinski, has managed to build a home, create a life with their three children, Reagan, Marcus and Beau, after the attack of the said creatures. They were able to create tactics and practice a normal (yet not so normal) life with the kids. However, on the day they left home to get some supplies something happened that caused their youngest child, Beau to be
killed by the creatures. As bad as it looked, yes, the family moved on and continue living in silence. Reagan was born deaf so whatever she does is very difficult because she won’t be able to hear the noise she’s making so she can’t anticipate whatever is coming her way, while Marcus is a bit traumatize of the creatures and is afraid of almost everything. He has a fainted heart and can never handle scary stuff. The family was able to manage to live for 472 days. Evelyn is also pregnant with her fourth child. Imagine watching the movie knowing that Evelyn’s water gonna broke and asking yourself how can she deliver the child in that condition especially that their enemies can hear even a slight sigh.

I know, it was nerve-wracking but if you watched the first movie well, you better be ready for the second part. Basically, Quiet Place 2 is the follow up of the events that ended in the first movie and also, this time, they showed flash backs of how the tragedy started. We even saw Dean Miller (A character from TV Series, Station 19, played by Okieriete Onaodowan, it wasn’t connected at all to S19 but I’m a big fan of S19, so let me be!) We also saw additional characters that are essential in the part 2.
We all know that Lee Abbott died in the first movie (If you don’t know, then you know that I always spoil so…yeah, guess you are now forced to watch it if you haven’t) and it ended up with Evelyn killing one of the creatures. So now in the second part, they need to relocate and find a safer place to stay and possibly get some help that might be available and then came Emmett played by Cillian Murphy, who was a friend of Lee’s and he saw right in front of his eyes what the creature did to everyone including his family which made it hard for the Abbott to convince him to take them in. Well, eventually, Emmett went around and took them in but Reagan is a smart one, following her instincts she traced the frequency/signal she’s getting and she was followed by Emmett and the rest is history, of course I won’t tell it all coz it’s for you to figure out. I promise you wouldn’t want me spoiling the whole part two.
The Verdict
As usual, I was impressed by how the movie was able to use limited dialogs and still able to create a movie that screams so much things and it actually doesn’t need people to speak, they just know how to entertain the viewers. Like, the first time I watched the movie (part1) I was so embarrassed coz I was eating popcorn and nachos. I ended up trying to eat quietly coz everyone’s focusing on the movie, totally not making any bit of a sound. It was funny but yes, it was an experience coz I learned my lesson and didn’t bring any crunchy food with me this time (part 2) And I was able to focus on what I’m watching because I didn’t have to think about me not finishing my popcorn coz everyone is silent.
Like the Bird Box, the movie was so heart-racing like you just don’t know what will happen next and that makes me anxious, I swear! Oh well, I’d like to commend the people who made the movie possible because up until now, I’m still thinking what I will do if someday a noise-sensitive creature comes in and just kills everyone…will I be able to survive? coz yeah, I snore, so basically that’s gonna be my first problem. Funny right? Anyway, movie is still out in cinemas so you better watch the first one in Netflix and then run in the cinema and watch the second one!
I will give this movie a 89% wonderroanne rating!
