“We’re sisters. You’re my family. What is you is me. There’s nothing you could ever say that would make me let go.”
Blair Waldorf, Gossip Girl 2007
Apparently, there’s a new scoop going around Manhattan after 8 years of being asleep, our beloved Gossip Girl is back! HBO Max just or should I say finally reprise Gossip Girl and it’s all we have been waiting for! Since its premiere in 2007, Gossip Girl is the no. 1 go-to of all high school girls like me. It became our creative standards when it comes to IT Girl TV Shows.
No one can beat Serena and Blair-two high school best friends who are facing the pressure of being an IT Girl around a very pressuring society of Manhattan. We have lived almost the whole high school and college, well, I’d say I did, and survived it because of them. Their mottos became my mantra. I know as a fan you will hear that all through out this article.
I was actually late to hear about this because I was too busy at work but last week I was able to
catch up and watch the pilot episode up to the latest one. The New Gossip Girl was released last July 2021 which gives us an ample time to catch up if you haven’t watched it. The story is still controlled by Gossip Girl but this time it is run by a teacher who got the inspiration from the previous Gossip Girl. The story revolves around two ladies who are half-sisters. Yes, this time the rivalry runs by blood but actually as I finish each episodes, there’s more to them than Blair and Serena although I got to say the change is remarkable.
Most of the characters are to love. I don’t know about you but I have my favorites as of the moment. I think Gossip Girl is enough of a spoiler, I don’t wanna add into that coz it’s too dearly to digest at this very moment especially if you really love the previous Gossip Girl casts.
Well, how about we list up some of the doppelganger vibes that I noticed?
- Audrey Hope – Looks a lot like Blair Waldorf, her life story seems a little darker than Blair though, coz we all know how she was loved by her mother, dad and Dorota!
- Max Wolfe – Definitely the Twin in the past of Chuck Bass but more intense though. I like how the attack of his character just screams so much like Chuck Bass but definitely different in so many ways!
- Luna La – Penelope Shafai, like yes, but smarter! She’s more like, the leave-it-to-me kind of friend but she’s gonna make sure she will up to the job!
- Julien Calloway – Serena van der Woodsen definitely, aside from she’s Ms. Popularity, she’s a mix of both Blair and Serena too coz she has an evil inside but still kind hearted angel.
- Zoya Lott – this will be Jennie Humphrey and a mix of Vanessa Abrams too. I don’t like her much probably coz she just seems a lot like Vanessa most time, I mean, yeah. Although at first she has the aura of Serena too. Like a must see!
- Aki Menzies – He’s the nicest boy in town, like I think he passes as Eric van der Woodsen and Nate Archibald mixed.
- Otto Bergmann IV – is definitely the Humphrey for me! Yes, he is definitely the rich version of Dan, it’s just so quirky and like real dope!

The plot is that the new Gossip Girl however is mainly created for the sole-purpose of teaching spoiled students of Constance but turned out, being the person who knows everything has a price and mainly your sanity. Of course, who wants to know every detail of everyone, every secrets and everything that can ruin someone’s reputation? Oh right, yes, we kinda all do, don’t we? ha!
So I recommend you to all watch this. So far there are 6 episodes and I believe with those six, it’s enough for you to find the new Blair, Serena and all the “reprise” casts. I’m just hoping some of the old casts shows up in the next coming episodes coz a reunion never hurts a good gossip, right?

I know there’s not much to tell yet but all I could say is that I would love to see more episodes in the next coming weeks coz 6 episodes is not enough. We need more of the gossips and by more, I mean, more than 7 seasons, I hope. However, for those who are fans of the previous show, I bet you’ll find this new one a little too obvious and all, coz yes, we all know what will happen but I bet writers have something good cooking coz Episode 6 ended with a bang and definitely is in need of a follow up! For those who haven’t watched it yet, it is available in HBO Max.
