As an adult, we all go through the time where we need to work and sometimes we don’t get high-paying jobs so we tend to borrow money either from banks or from people we know but there are also borrowers who fail to pay their debts on time and just runaway from their collectors. I know that you can all relate to what I’m saying. Credit cards, bank loans and loan sharks, these are the samples of the ways you can borrow money but little did we know, interest rate is as much as harder to pay just like the credit that you owe them so sometimes we tend to pay late or we just cannot pay the whole amount and interest keeps increasing. Well, in short, we are paying double the money we borrowed.

So this new Korean drama is invading all the streaming sites and actually, many people are trying out the whole concept of squid game. This series is about a game where players play bunch of games that kids are used to play. However, the difference of this game from what we have seen when we were kids is that when you get eliminated, you’ll be eliminated literally, like gunshot elimination.

There are 456 players and the movie had focus on the stories of some of them, mainly, player 456 who is a gambler, a father and a son but never had a chance to be able to live life at the expense of not asking money because he kept on betting everything and gambles every day for his life. There are 456 players in the game and most of them were actually people with lots of debts and most of them cannot even pay for it anymore so they joined the game thinking it is some kind of shortcut on paying their huge debts, but of course nothing extravagant comes easy. They had to compete and survive to be able to get the pot money however, they don’t have any idea which game they’ll be playing, only to find out that they’d be playing children’s games which they have played when they were also young. The huge doll in the red-light, green-light game was really made it more interesting. I bet you see this doll all around the internet now. She’s wearing a yellow and orange dress and her hair is tied pig-tails and she’s the one leading the game.

I won’t spoil much because I know there are people still watching the series. Anyway, this is supposed to be a fast verdict so, I will make one. I love the series, it’s fast and entertaining. What do I mean by fast? I mean there’s not much going around the bush kind of thing, I love how straight forward it was and instinctively, you will get the gist of it in no time. I also love hoe they incorporate two stories. The one happening with the players and the one behind the scene. They actually made two different angles in the tv series which I found really interesting. There’s so much drama in this series but it didn’t weigh so much to drag the whole series into some heavy drama genre but it was the right amount of laughter and crying in the whole events of watching it.

In the recent news not, Netflix’s sales had gone up and that’s thanks to the most popular TV series of 2021 which is Squid Game and I can’t even disagree coz even here in the Middle East, they put up a cafe that serves dalgona candy which is also part of the Squid Game. Even in other countries they made the dalgona candy as one of the popular game that the generation can play everywhere and can make on their own coz it’s only a sugar melter with a shape in the middle that they need to crack up without ruining the shape. Surprisingly, all the techniques they have used in the series works even in reality so yes, eveyone is now enjoying dalgona candies, popularized by the series.

I believe we all know how popular this series has become but there’s also one movie which was released in 2014 that has the similar concept as the Squid Game. This is a Japanese movie entitled As The Gods Will this movie is all about survival as well and if you want more survival series like these, aside from Hunger Games and Divergent, you can also look up Alice in Borderland, also a Japanese series based on games. There’s so many options to watch if your Squid Game fever is still there.

The Squid Game has received so much attention that it was suspected to have plagiarized the infamous As The Gods Will but they made a statement that the story was made many years back but failed to get approvals or production.

All in all, I would give this series a whopping 90% wonderroanne rating. The ending still blows my mind even until now and I think there’s so many things you could learn while watching this series.
