My Name: TV Series (Spoiler Alert)

From the mistress in the World of Married to having her own show in Nevertheless, Han So-Hee has become one of the sought after actresses in the Kdrama limelight. After the wild acting in the Nevertheless, I think jumping into a role that represents the ignited femme fatale in every woman is a major leap of faith. We all know who have done this major jump too, Park Shin-Hye is one of those actresses that I believe has this versatility when it comes to roles that she plays. And surprisingly, they have Han the chance to prove herself by having different kinds of roles.

Her new Korean Drama Series, My Name, is about a lady who’s father was believed part of the gangsters that were wanted in their place, however before she even get an clarification from her father, he was unfortunately killed in their doorstep during her birthday. The incident led her to finding the culprit and deciding to join the gangster that her father was a member of.

Choi Mu-Jin, played by Hee-Soon Park is the leader of the said group, who have known the father of Yoon Ji-Woo (Han’s character) and treated him like a brother. When Yoon had come to his office begging him to help him find the man who killed her father, Choi had the idea of not getting Yoon involved but Yoon was determined and trained with the gang only to find out that she can be stronger if she really wants to.

One this she knows is that the weapon that killed her father was from the Police Department. In the next years, Yoon trained and studied to be able to enter the Police Department to be able to find her father’s killer only to discover that her father’s murderer is the one who trained her to be tough and taught her how to kill to survive, none other than Choi Mu-jin. Later in the series, they have discovered that Yoon’s father was a undercover agent who took part of joining the gang to cover his tracks however, discovered that he was a spy and a police, Choi decided to end his life, despite the brotherhood he thought they developed. Choi planted the murder weapon, which happens to be Yoon’s father’s own gun while he was in the service.

Pretty wicked right? I love how Kdramas make such good story line and I think it was a big of a help to motivate characters to fight for their life when their loved one is either killed or attack but the real question throughout the series was who really is the loyal one and who really is telling the truth. The dilemma that it has given me while watching the series was just too strong that I was able to finish it in one sitting. There’s so much more than the series itself. I love all the characters but the plot however is just too impossible to happen in real life, I know this was supposed to be fiction but one woman having the ability to kill everyone especially in the last scenes is just not that believable.

Han delivered the character very natural and I think I would want to see her do more action Kdramas. The funny part was in the middle of the film, they have showed her Nevertheless side and it felt like it would’ve been better if they gave her a storyline where she gets longer airtime for her love-life coz she has experienced too much suffering and I believe she deserves to have at least 3 episodes having her man beside her but no, they killed him off instantly after the night they slept together which is a little disappointing. The bed scene is just really surprising too.

Anyways, All in all, I love this series, aside from Vagabond, I love this one too. It’s just refreshing to see new faces doing different genres of Kdrama. I will give this 89% wonderroanne rating!
