Venom: Let There Be Carnage

In the midst of the world getting excited about Shang Chi and other new characters on the Marvel world, here I am, geeking about Venom and Spiderman. This October, Marvel has released the second sequel of the 2018 movie Venom. Tom Hardy is still playing Eddie/Venom while Woody Harrelson still plays Cletus Kasady. I know this is a deeper villain story not even focusing on Spiderman at all but I think viewers deserve a story behind the infamous Venom and Carnage.

For those who aren’t familiar of comics, Carnage is the result of the merging of the alien symbiote, Venom, with Cletus Kasady during an encounter in a prison breakout. They call it the offspring of Venom but stronger, smarter and more dangerous. In the new sequel of Venom we all saw how Venom is connected to Eddie in more ways we can imagine.

To be able to live in Eddie’s body, in the first movie, they agreed that he will stay in his body but with certain condition and one of them is not to eat humans and eat chickens instead; the second one is that he can eat human brain only if necessary. I’m not sure how does that contract varies but yes, they live quite while munching on chocolates and chickens however the dismay of Venom was showed in the latest movie. It’s like their bond is starting to crumble.

While struggling on staying in his host, Venom tried its best to help Eddie when it comes to his daily life in anyway possible. Especially when Cletus requested him to for a visit. When Eddie was in the prison, Cletus told Eddie some scripts and codes that Venom was able to decode which turned into a case solving event, making Cletus guilty of the crimes they were trying to pin on him. He is a serial killer and Venom was able to follow his path through Cletus’ drawings which lead them to the grave where Cletus had buried every person he killed. Since Eddie is the one who broke the news and technically who discovered the whole thing, he is now the most wanted on Cletus’ eyes.

And before he was sentenced to death he asked Eddie to visit him to make a last statement before they kill him on the chair. However, before everything happened, he was able to harm Eddie, taking a bite on his hand, not knowing that venom’s blood is running in Eddie’s veins and later that day, the breakout happened, a little dramatic that the comics but yes, it happened, Carnage was unleashed and is using Cletus as his host. Mind just for your information, the difference is that in the comics, he is actually Eddie Brock’s cellmate. He even tried to convince Eddie to plan on killing-spree.

Cletus and his long time love, Skriek or Frances Barrison, is also part of the second sequel however not that helpful coz the symbiotes are allergic to loud sound so Shriek is either their mortal enemy or their mortal enemy. Yes. However since Carnage needs to feed on Celtus, he had to save Frances from the prison and make its host get whatever he wanted in life which is to be with his one and only love, Frances. So, Carnage had to keep her to keep its host.

And they showed in the movie that Carnage just wanted its very own doomsday and well, we all know what happens when a villain faces a villain. Carnage is actually stronger than Venom however Venom outsmarts it’s offspring in so many ways and so that’s what he did.

The movie had so much to offer that I guess having 1 and 30 minutes of screen time isn’t enough, compare to the first one coz we just need to see more. The main difference between the origin of Carnage from the comics to the movie is that Venom got detached from Eddie and was presumed gone, however later on, when Eddie was in the prison, he reunited with Venom and it had left some part of it and has consumed Cletus and that’s how Carnage was born but in the movie, of course they had to compress all the idea into one that’s why they even had to start the movie by telling the story of Cletus and that makes Shriek a little too much for the story, in fact, they just had to include her there to build the character for Cletus.

Carnage and Cletus have been defeated however, since the Venom 2 is deliberately connected to Spiderman, I think there will possibility of having Carnage back in the MCU in no time and when I mean in no time, I mean that it can be included in the next Spiderman installment coz the new installment will open so many doors for all the past villains to come back, considering the post credit scene in Venom 2, where Venom and Eddie went to a remote island and there had been a quick change of time (which I think is from somewhere in the Endgame period or Dr. Strange seemingly creating multiverse) Thye suddenly seated in a luxury resort in someone else’s room and the news scene in the television was when Peter Parker was revealed as Spiderman and so, Venom knew it was his main purpose to see Spiderman. I think that explains the slowly picking up MCU timeline from how it ended during the Endgame. I believe Marvel is still trying to fix everything that the Endgame have shaken which I think is acceptable.

I’m actually more excited about the Spiderman more than any of the other incoming MCU Movies. I geek out on Spidey and DC Movies more than anything else so you know me, I will give a detailed script for that too.

All in all, I wasn’t sure about this Venom 2, if I like it or not, however, I liked it in the sense of having a definite closer between Anne and Eddie, Cletus and Shriek but I expected more considering Carnage is actually one of the strongest predator in the Spiderman MCU, so yes, the need of Carnage’s appearance in the next installment is more plausible.

I would definitely give this 88% wonderroanne rating!

For those who are asking, yes, we are also ready for the Eternals which will be released next month! Watch Venom first and then will see what other interesting things will happen in the MCU.
