Spiderman: No Way Home (A Moview) Part 2 (Spoiler)

For those who haven’t read the part 1 of my moviews, I wrote my sentiments while watching the film, here’s the article and you can read HERE. So this second part of my review will focus on the comparison of the Spiderman: No Way Home and comics versions, post credit scenes and the possibility and futures of the Marvel Cinematic Universe.

If you’re still reading this even after so many warnings that this contains spoiler from the movies, then you might have watched the movie already, so yes, go scroll down, but if not, don’t blame me for spoiling so much! ✌🏻(At this point, I believe that everyone have watched the movie and spoilers is okay.)

Comic to Movie Comparison

The plot line for Spiderman: No Way Home is more similar to the comic version The Amazing Spiderman: One More Day which was published in 2007. This is a 4-part comic story where the crossover for 3 Spiderman happens and yes, I can tell you it is definitely adapted on that story but of course, changes are there to be able to match the current MCU timeline.

In the comics, Aunt May dies of gunshot wound that happened in the Civil War, while in the movie she dies because of a wound caused by Goblin’s glider. In the movie, Peter focused on fixing his present day situation and asked the help of Dr. Strange to erase the world’s memories of his identity. In the comics, He seeks the help from Tony Stark and Dr. Strange to bring back Aunt May’s life; and I believed he seek Dr. Doom and and Dr. Octopus for help.

In the movie, Dr. Strange helped Peter, at least 30% of it, since he doesn’t have the time stone, he cannot be a good help when it comes to time travel but by giving some magic he was able to contain the villains in the dungeon, however, in the comics, Dr. Strange refused to give any help to Peter. In the comics, he tried to go back in time without Dr. Strange approval and Dr. Strange ended up sending him back to Aunt May’s before he even messes up with the timeline, while in the movie he literally had a battle against Dr. Strange to push through the plan causing a multiverse to open.

In the comics, the multiverse was introduced to Peter by Mephisto, he is also the one who offered a possibility of getting Aunt May back but in exchange of Peter’s soul and his married life with Mary Jane. They basically agreed on it and later on had a deal that Peter’s identity will be unknown to everyone. So in the comics, pretty much the same as the movie, MJ forgot Peter and that’s how Peter and MJ’s story got messed up in the comics coz Mephisto used a little girl to reveal himself and the little girl was their future daughter, but since they agreed on forgetting their love story, the little girl won’t exist. And then everything went back to normal except, now no one knows about Spiderman and Peter and MJ were never married which basically what happened in the movie, Ned and MJ not only forgot about Peter but also forgotten that they knew each other too. Sucks, right?

But what does this mean for the MCU? Does the MCU completely forgot Spiderman as an Avenger? Does this mean they are going to have a separate world for Peter Parker and he’ll be out of the equation on the current MCU? Let’s talk about the ending part. Peter gets a new apartment in NYC, with the chance of getting GED as well, so is that means it will be a new story line for Peter? Setting it up to the timeline where Venom will meet Spiderman, which might explain the post credit scene where Eddie and Venom gets sucked up again and disappears but leaving a little residue on the bar. Is there going to be a new Carnage or two Venoms in different universe?

If you noticed, Peter has made a new costume as well, which definitely screams the same costume that is now currently been worn in the Spiderman PS5 game. and all I can see here is they are actually trying to remove or diversify Spiderman from the MCU and creates him another timeline to match the comics, after all, the first Spiderman installments were actually based on him being an independent hero with no Avengers on his side. This is more interesting because even Venom will eventually have independent movies that will finally match Spidey’s timeline.

And to add to more exciting future, Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness trailer was also released on the post credit scene. This means multiverse is official and there will more multiverse in the future. In the trailer Wanda was there to help, we also saw America Chavez, who can travel into multiverse which we will be tackling when the movie is out, and then we also saw Gargantos, the one eyed monster, so this means this is also a start for America’s story and in this universe, America will handle the big apple, if this is same as in the comics she will be working with Dr. Strange.

There’s actually so many possibilities in this multiverse situation because we don’t know, Sony and Marvel can actually tied together again after few movies only to give another shot for a possibility of introducing Spiderman to the new MCU timeline.

I’m also excited for the upcoming movies, so we better get into it and watch TV series (Marvel) as well because they also give hints in there specially in Hawkeye.
