Twenty Five Twenty One (A Moview)

Have ever wondered how life was during the 90s or how they actually spent time without the smartphones and other gadgets that we are enjoying now? I bet you also wonder how they make use of their extra time or even how they can communicate with their friends from afar? Well, This is another K-drama that will build your motivation and everything. This is one will definitely hit the retro lovers and the ones who were once a teenager during the 90s and early 2000s.

Twenty Five Twenty One is one of the series that I think will actually introduce the kids now in the 90s coz in the series, we’re going to see different kinds of gadgets and toys that the kids are now unfamiliar with. This is a story about a student who idolizes a fencing champion

and later on dreamt of meeting her idol only to find out that she is not the girl she thinks she was, she was the complete opposite. Here’s where the story of Na Hee-Do (Played by Kim Tae-ri) starts, she tries to convince her mother that fencing is her life and she needs to transfer in a new school to be able to train with a good coach, the same coach that trains her idol into the national championship. After a long argument with her mother, she was able to enter the school. During this time, she also met a guy named Baek Jin (played by Nam Joo-Hyuk) who was then struggling to get back on his feet after his father, who owns an investment company got bankrupt and he had to experience the life from basically getting everything he wants to getting nothing at all. The two became friends despite that age gap, Na Hee-do was 19 and Baek Jin was 23. But the world is really small, Baek is actually friends with Ko Yurim (played by Bona), she is Hee-do’s idol. Baek Jin’s family sponsored her fencing before that’s why they became friends later on.

Na Hee-do eventually became Ko Curium’s rival in fencing, she became an excellent player, bagging medals in every tournament until she was able to reach Ko Curium’s level. They even got a match together which sparked a controversy between them however this incident had led them to becoming friends later on when they discovered that they have so many things that connects them.

Na Hee-do, like the normal teenagers her age, she developed feelings for Baek Jin but Baek Jin was hesitant to even tell her own feeling which were the same as Hee-do’s because he doesn’t want her to lose what she has and what she can have in the future because dating Baek Jin can make or break their relationship not only as friends but also their careers will fall into a tight grip if the time comes Baek Jin has to choose over the things he loves, Na Hee-do and his career.

The story actually started when Na Hee-do’s daughter, dated in 2022, saw her diary when she was a teenager, she then reads the pages without knowing that her mother has an interesting story. The tv series is rather comedic with a touch of drama. I believe getting into an older story or a story that was story told by an elder is really interesting especially if it’s about someone you know and close to you.

I have enjoyed this series and to tell you honestly, I was pretty hesitant at first and was able to pass this episode 2 syndrome where sometimes I just get bored after the first two episodes. The series gave me a sneak peek of what is it really like to be in that year and what is it really like to have been in the present where you just lived an interesting life and someone else is enjoying the parts of it. This is also a story of friendship, struggles and sportsmanship. You will be able to see how each of the characters have grown after so many years.

There are also theories that has surfaced the tv series because it was really a cliffhanger. I have so many theories, and one of them will definitely make you seek your Netflix and play this series. This theory has been in my mind for the longest time. Despite of being together, I wonder where did Baek Jin go? Did he die? Is he still alive by 2022? I think there’s more questions to answer that’s why this series needs to have a season 2, basically to answer all the hanging questions that we have.

This is a fun series if you want a Hometown Cha-Cha kind of vibes, this is your major go-to. All in all, I would love for everyone to see this and definitely recommendable. This deserves 91% wonderroanne rating!
