Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness: Does It Fit The Title Though?

Marvel has been really doing an upgrade to its movies especially to this phase four lately, but what Marvel doesn’t know is that they’re kinda overdoing it and it’s kinda affecting the product that they are giving the viewers. Let’s just say this movie is quite a big follow-up especially how a huge success was the Spiderman: No Way Home was. But what they failed to see is people will start comparing this movie to that multi-verse plot especially with how it will fall as a possible continuation for all the multiverse movies that they will make.

As strange as it sounds, picking up from Spiderman to this is kinda taking so many loop holes but since Spiderman is taken over by Sony, I guess there will be enough reasons to consider that Marvel is actually trying to revive a plot and making a new one after the Spiderman exit. Spiderman series is just doing its own thing but the Marvel Phase Four was dented. So how can this movie changed the possible future for MCU?

I mean, it didn’t. It actually made it more impossible to follow up with some comically natural plot, unless they start a standalone movie for America Chavez, and they connect the sudden existence of Illuminati and a possible plot for another superhero to come. Marvel has been confusing all the viewers with its Movie to TV follow ups which I, myself can never keep up. This latest movie for doctor strange, we can only talk about three major things. Darkhold, The Illuminati & Scarlet Witch.

The movie is all about Scarlet/Wanda is trying to get ahold of the Darkhold by using America Chavez’s capability to open portals to different worlds or what they called alternate realities but as young as she is, America still doesn’t know what she can do and so, before she even be able to control herself, Scarlet tried to use her powers to rule even multi-verse only to find herself longing for what she have lost. Scarlet just wanted a normal life but since she was Scarlet, there’s nothing normal about her so she tried to search for the world where she has kids and she’s living a normal life. However, her plans didn’t actually go as planned. That’s where the fight against Doctor Strange enters. Strange tries to stop her from either killing Chavez or getting ahold of the Darkhold.

Potentially, Scarlet has the ability to make everything revolve around her palms but of course there will be unbalance in the world if that happens. Doctor Strange on there other hand tried to help Scarlet realize her mistake and helped Chavez to get a new life. This plot was okay, but after realizing that there could be entries in the multi-verse that can affect whatever they are doing right now, I think it is safe to say that the movie has been a mess.

Having a dead/zombie version of Strange fight for him from another universe is Marvel’s outtake to possibilities that they can maneuver a two world communication in the near future but how does it says in the comics? How about when they actually showed us the Illuminati consists of Charles Xavier fro X-Men, Mr. Fantastic, Black Bolt, Captain Carter, Captain Marvel, and Karl Mordo. Of course they cannot just magically turn Tony Stark back because it will mess the plot even more. Coz they are trying to form a new avenger so most likely, they needed to introduce new team. One more thing that I noticed, they are actually trying to create an alternate universe where everything is as good as it seems. The Illuminati is considered the most powerful but how come they failed to beat Scarlet Witch, does that mean Scarlet can single-handedly kill all the avengers? That’s the question I have been asking all throughout the movie.

Despite the title being Doctor Strange, the movie was actually about Wanda Maximoff/Scarlet Witch, from beginning to its end, she was the villain but also the star. Doctor Strange became a supporting role. The title of the movie should’ve been Scarlet Witch: The Darkhold Possession right? This sounds way better than having to stick around and wait for Doctor Strange to shine. He actually acted like the villain in the movie, well at least on the 20% of it coz the rest was Scarlet and Wanda’s world.

Basically the plot of the movie is mixed of different comics, The young Avengers, The Illuminati, JohnHickman’s Avengers, Avengers Disassembled, Secret Wars, The Shuma-Gorath Saga. If they are actually looking at the possibilities of having a smooth plot, they will need to star with Chavez first, coz they will be able to create The Young Avengers very easy. It is also quite obvious that this film needs a better follow up which gives as an incredible detail on the post credit scene.

Post Credit Explained

Doctor Strange getting back with a third-eye, he is way stronger than he was when he had a pair of it. While walking in the streets, a portal was open and Clea (Doctor Strange’s wife the comics) shows up and ask for help. Is this the diversion we really waited since we started watching Scarlet Witch ruin every plot we tried to built in our heads? For those who don’t know, she is the love interest for Doctor Strange since Christine is not on the scene anymore. They have fought back villains and villains until they got married. S the question now is, is this the reality we wanted for Doctor Strange? I think so.

And aside from that, What is the story about Pizza Poppa? Yes, he’s the guy who has been spelled by Strange to hit himself for three weeks. Are we gonna get a follow up with that too? I hope so.

Verdict

I am more hopeful to see another Doctor Strange but this time with only him in the spotlight. I’m sure the post credit scene can give some justice to that. Christine will be out of the picture and Clea will be there, she will be working along side Strange and I think that’s a way the story should go.

All in all, I liked how the movie became horror and gore because of Scarlet Witch, it’s just that she was in the wrong movie, she has to have a self-titled movie in order to explore all the wonders in her head, including all the children that she made in every alternate universe. Post-wise, it was a mess, you just don’t know where to follow and how every scene begins and end. It was a puzzle that we had to figure out the whole time.

I would recommend this to everyone but just be aware thatches is not your average Marvel movie. It has so many things in it that is packed into one. You’ll just have to figure out how to fish every details. I will give this 85% wonderroanne rating just because I saw Charles Xavier and Clea. That’s it! ✌️
