Money Heist: Korea, Is It Worth The Hype?

Base on the synopsis of the original Money Heist; The Professor, recruiting skillful thieves who are planning to pull off the biggest heist in history. The group who are well known for taking hostages to help them in negotiating with the authorities who are in the hunt fro The Professor however in most cases they failed to do so. This is only the short recap of what I have remembered from the original Money Heist. This 2022, Netflix has produced another Money Heist entry but in Korean version. But is it really worth the repeat?

The moment they announced that there’s gonna be a Money Heist Korean version, I distinctively expect that there’s going to be a similarities and differences at the same time. More than ever, like the Spanish version, I am not a fan. I was watching it in two perspective, first was the POV of a person who knew the Spanish version and the second POV was the part where I pretend not to know any of it.

If you have watched the Spanish version, then you will find it more predictable because you will know every turn of events and every move that they’re going to do. You’ll probably feel a little bored too especially now that you know who’s who and what’s what, like there’s not mot to say aside from you have to compare whether The Professor, Nairobi, Tokyo and other casts. You’ll probable say that the Spanish version is way more exciting because Rio is there, all I could say is Rio in Spanish version is way better, well, even The Professor.

Tokyo and Nai, aren’t too special in the Korean version which made me more appreciate the old one and despite of trying to pretend that I don’t know the story, no matter how they change it, it’s just there. Honestly, I never liked the Spanish version that much that is why there was so much expectation in watching this whole series.

If you never watched the Spanish version, I will highly recommend watching only one version coz both versions are good. They can always stand on their own. If I pretend not to know the story in the Korean version, I’d say that I liked it coz I won’t have to bother to compare the whole thing while watching the series. The elements of the new Money Heist might be better than the first one, I liked how they narrate the story of every character and I like it when they tried to change some highlights in the Spanish version.

All in all, I would give this 88% wonderroanne rating. I don’t unlike it, but I don’t like it either. I’m in the middle and no spoilers can be any of justification because there’s so much more to compare from the Spanish version and the Korean version, I’d say, it would’ve been better if they leave Money Heist in the Spanish version alone because the uniqueness of the series was erased by the time you watch the Korean version. Originals are always the best, that’s the reality.
