Black Panther: Wakanda Forever

Rating: 4.5 out of 5.

In the past year, Black Panther movie has shaken the entire world and made a mark to Marvel and non-Marvel fans. Chadwick Boseman is one of the most remarkable actor in the industry, everything has been said about him, good praises for his acting for the role of King T’Challa up to becoming the Black Panther, Chadwick has really marked his name on that Hollywood stone. However, his limelight and dreams were cut short after he was diagnosed of Colon Cancer. While in treatment, he was able to join and do cameos for other MCU Films, but sadly, he passed away at 43 years old last August 28, 2020. It was a very heart breaking moment for all, not only his family but for everyone in the industry and even his fans. The world has mourned his death, the death of a man and the King of Wakanda.

Two years after his death, Marvel `Cinematic Universe has emerged forward and released the film Black Panther: Wakanda `Forever and this movie is not just any other MCU movies out there

Unlike the Fast and Furious movie series, after Paul Walker’s death, they tried to tie up the story around him leaving the group and choosing to live on his own with his family (I hope I’m right with that) I think the reason why they did that is they wanted to make Paul continue living at least in their sequels. MCU did the opposite, they focused the movie around King T’Challa’s death, they made it looked like he died because of an unknown disease/undisclosed illness which kind of related to Chadwick’s passing. The entire movie didn’t even have to use CGI just to show the Black Panther, however, the main question was, if this is a Black Panther movie, then who will play the Panther?

Many speculations had gone all over the internet and even fans were actually curious and then, when the movie was released, everyone was surprised on how they actually made this movie a real tribute to Chadwick and to his memories. The plot ended up really engaging to its current situation. Will there be a new Black Panther or will they ever use some unused footages of Chadwick Boseman and have it played as to show that he is actually with them while they do the whole movie? Well, we got the answer for that and I am sure that everyone who watched the movie have seen everything.

The plot was straight forward, after King T’Challa’s death, the world has gone mad, trying to claim what’s not theirs and their selfish acts wanted their own countries to get ahold of Wakanda’s wealth, but Ramonda, played by Angele Bassett was firm enough to refuse. The other countries tried to search for resources to keep their countries moving forward, until they unwillingly disturb an unknown tribe living underwater. The leader of this tribe is Namor, played by Tenoch Huerta and he is not happy with the normal humans appearing on their territories.

Namor is a god, you could call him god of the sea in the MCU, he’s like the Aquaman of Marvel Cinematic Universe. He has a physique of a strong man with pair of wings on his feet. He is a very strong individual and along with his army, he can be almost unbeatable and I think this has made it harder for the Wakanda people especially Ramonda to defeat him. Namor has trusted Shuri, played by Letitia Wright at first but he thought that the loyalty that Shuri is offering will cause them harm and so Namor thought that he could rule the world if Wakanda and his Kingdom merge but for what?

The Verdict

Actually, I don’t have to write any because I really liked how they incorporated and remix the reality over the fiction. It was never a flawless plot especially now that I am actually questioning whether the movie is an independent one or they will be actually including it from the original MCU Timeline.

Namor, is originally in X-Men comics, so I really need to make a leap of faith and ask if X-Men is actually coming anytime soon, if it is, I will probably one of the people who are going to pre-book the tickets. Plus, having X-Men is like having Wolverine all over again which is going to happen soon on the upcoming movie for Deadpool.

The whole plot was different but resembling to Avatar: The Way of Water, I kinda saw the resemblance at some point but that is not actually important, it was all in my imagination. Anyway, back to the movie, MCU have managed to erased Black Panther without even deleting scenes nor reusing footages, it was so good that you thought you have predicted everything until you see it. I know, I haven’t made any commentary when it comes to the production but I think this movie have given us enough to be amazed about. And I think it is safe to say that if you haven’t watched it, then I’d recommend for you to do so.

I won’t give any spoilers because I think, every viewer deserves this moment of surprise coz I also asked myself, while watching the movie, if how Wakanda will be if King T’Challa is not there? There are so many surprises in the movie that even in the post credit-scenes, it was worth the wait because all of your questions while watching the movie, will be answered.

I’d definitely give this 90% wonderroanne rating!
