Meg 2: The Trench Review

Rating: 2.5 out of 5.

We have seen Jaws, Jurassic Park, Piranha and Komodo Dragon, which actually made me scared of reptiles, and sharks for the rest of my childhood and yes, I could, say every time, I go to the beach, I still have that fear of getting bitten by a shark or eaten by killer whale, I mean, you never know.

This year, they have released a new movie installment for MEG, the sequel was actually surprising because the first movie was released 2018 and we didn’t expect some sequels up ahead, or maybe there was but I just didn’t see it coming. Anyway, MEG is a prehistoric shark that lives in the deep level of the water that was discovered by researchers and then during the research they had to be saved by Jonas Taylor played by Jason Stratham. Due to their extinction, they didn’t know the capabilities of the huge sharks and so they had to study it to be able to prevent them from reaching the surface and kill people.

The first movie was good, Jaws was better but it was good because they are dealing with some kind of prehistoric animal which no one have ever discovered until them. The movie didn’t actually got the public’s eye at first but because people wanted to see some movies that reminds them of Jaws, well, crocodiles have been up to the standards lately too, they watched it, like for the good plot and the huge shark.

Surprisingly, I didn’t expect that they will be having a sequel, but this time, it was literally something that I didn’t expect. The second installment was still about the research, but this time, they are trying to get into the Trench, this is the place where more unknown creatures are to be discovered but before they do reach the Trench, they will have to through MEGs. In the first few minutes of the film, they showed some dinosaurs, which can actually swim underwater and yes, they’ve shown a years old huge MEG, I’d call it the oldest of all MEGs. Jason, Juicing and their team decided to explore the Trench but in another part, the whole dive was sabotaged by one of their partners and they ended up getting stuck under the water with huge MEGs around them and yeah, the deep water.

But not only MEGs, the little dinosaurs with fins (Well, I actually don’t know what they’re called but…yeah), these dinosaurs had gone into a place called Fun Island, which is actually some sort of a resort. Then another creature was a huge, like I mean technically-bigger-than-MEG huge octopus that actually reached the surface as well.

Well, upon watching it I realized they tried to incorporate some sort of Jaws, Jurassic Park and Komodo Dragon in this film all within an 1 hr and 50 minutes. This actually didn’t work, not surprised about it but they actually ruined the movie itself, like yes, it was funny, but doesn’t have substance at all. who in the hell would believe that one man could actually beat up 3 huge MEGs and then one man, killing a huge octopus, not to mention the lives that Juicing had in the film, he always made to a point that his character will face an almost-death occurrence.

I’m not a fan of very unrealistic movies especially if they cast it like it is a real thing, saying it is close to its nature but it’s not, I’d believe the Sharks but the whole combination of the creatures they faced, nope, too much for me. The movie is funny, but yes, I would prefer Jaws over it or maybe Piranha, like those were the legends when it comes to creature movies like this.

All in all, I would give this 75% wonderroanne rating. The post just doesn’t make sense.
