Oppenheimer Review

I am become of death. The destroyer of the worlds

J. Robert Oppenheimer

A biographic film, the Oppenheimer. This new film directed by Christoper Nolan is ranging from mystery to greatness. We all know who Christopher Nolan is, well, if not then let me tell you who he is. Christopher is the famous director of Dark Knight (2008), Dunkirk, Tenet, Interstellar and my favorite, Inception. If you watched these movies, you’ll know for sure that there’s a deep dark mystery in the film that all throughout the movie, you’ll ask so many questions.

Oppenheimer is a story based on the famous physicist, J. Robert Oppenheimer or best well known as the Father of the Atomic Bomb. This is the story about how he designed the atomic bomb. The story revolves around the life of Robert during and after the first nuclear explosion happened. The whole movie showed so many stories about the beginning of Manhattan Project up to the most crucial part of Robert’s career. The movie also showed some key events in his life, like his personal life and also the infamous poisoned apple, which according to biographers, had actually happened. Before he became a scientist, he was a lone depressed college boy that was looked down by everyone around him and that includes his professor, and one day, he poisoned an apple by injecting chemicals and placed it on his professor’s desk. He got away with the incident because of his parents. The movie depicted the dark side of Robert Oppenheimer and also the guilt that he may have felt along the way while doing the project. He have lost so many things in his life and the movie just showed the sweat and tears behind the first nuclear bomb creation.

Many people say that the Oppenheimer movie is the opposite of the Barbie Movie, which meant to be in a glitz and glamour theme, while Oppenheimer was rather on the dark and lonely side. The almost 3 hour film has been not only interesting but educating as well, especially when it comes to the history of science and well, the history of the world itself.

In most biography movies, you’ll never see two sides; we will always be feed up with more of the bias side but this time around, we may have felt what Oppenheimer really felt and really wanted during his days. He was considered lunatic for creating such a murderous weapon but as a scientist we also saw how it had progressed the way he think, considering that he had a such bad experience during his lab days.

I also love how the movie didn’t choose to make Oppenheimer’s name get tarnished just because of the reflections that people will make out of the movie. The movie is very educational. I’m glad they had to postpone Barbie and had me watch this movie first because it was literally a jump over the fence kind of thing to be able to understand the feelings that this movie wanted us to feel. I also love the way they managed to make this movie more informative, I think most of the science teachers will be showing this movie to their students in the future.

For Cillian Murphy, who played J. Robert Oppenheimer, I loved how he portrayed the role. It is on point. From Peaky Blinders to Inception, I am completely speechless with the professionalism that he is showing on every role that he is playing. Versatile and mystifying, that’s how I see him as an actor. And we all know that. He is a sweetheart.

All in all, with regards to the cast, yes, from Robert Downey Jr., Rami Malik, Matt Damon, Emily Blunt and Florence Pugh, well, this was a movie where all stars are amazing. If I were a professor, I’d let my students watch the movie to have more knowledge about how nuclear explosions happen and many other things.

I’d definitely push this to 95% wonderroanne rating!

PS. I’m still terrified of the mushroom cloud; like it is just so weirdly crazy that the mushroom cloud is actually consisting a bubble of gas inside that will pop and destroy everything in a long range.
