Family Switch Review

Rating: 3.5 out of 5.

From Freaky Friday, Secret Garden, 17 Again, In Her Shoes, Just Got Lucky and 13 Going 30, these are just some of the famous shows that is all about 2 people switching places. But these were like released from more than 10 years ago but still getting lots of views coz these kinds of movies are like a gem. This 2023, Jennifer Garner, the OG 13 going 30 star is playing another role witht he same theme but this time, the switching is between family members, not just two but 6 individuals including the family pet. Yes, you heard that right, 6 people in total exchanging bodies, so what’s the possible chaos, right?

Well, this movie released in time for Christimas, entitled Family Switch, is about a family of 6 (including the pet dog) has been tangled into a magic by waking up one day in someone else’s body. After visiting the museum, Jennifer Garner as Jess Walker, the mother, Ed Helms as Bill Walker, the dad, Brady Noon as Wyatt and Emma Myers as CC with their youngest baby, Miles Wyatt and their dog, they have woken up with Jess on CC’s body and vice versa, Ed in Wyatt’s body and vice versa and last one is Miles in the dog’s body and vice versa. A chaos and mystery, right? Well, what they will do if on the day they discovered that they exchange bodies, they all have important events to attend to that might change the course of their lives.

While trying to fix the impossible, they need to manage to live in their new bodies until they go back to their own, but the catch it, they have limited time and not being able to go back to their original bodies can cost them their lives.

The movie is actually trying show the lives of different individuals not knowing what they really face every day in their lives, misjudging them all throughout their life, thinking they just don’t understand each other. The movie is actually is straightforward, like you know that the movie is predictable, however still interesting because it is not like a ruin-fix kind of story. They managed to put on realizations on each of the characters by lettng them live in each body and see how it is really like t live in their shoes.

The good thing about the movie is they somehow changed the attack on movies with the same genre, they were able to make not like anything else we have watched but still reminded of those we have watched before. For me, I love seeing Jennifer play roles like this and it’s not surprising that she’s nailing every bit of it. The movie is just very light, making it more family friendly and relatable.

All in all, there’s so much more to love about this movie and I bet all family members will just like it instantly. Just in time for Christmas, well, I’d definitely give this a hit 85% wonderroanne rating.
