Aquaman and The Lost Kingdom

Rating: 3 out of 5.

What else do we really need to know about Aquaman, aside from his roots? Well, the previous movie entry left us a cliffhanger and it only meant that of course, it is another DC Movie, so we will have to expect something but it took them at least 5 years to have a follow up movie which I think is very long considering there’s so much to have it connected with, I guess trying t connect movies from the DC Universe is a little too complicated because they ahve been failing on doing such from the previous years. All we had were Batman and Wonder Woman having a consistent entry but not so exciting too, I’d rather watch Suicide Squad repeatedly because the story line is quite better than the mainstream heroes lately.

This is the same The Marvels form the MCU. This plot line about Aquaman teaming up with his brother because Black Manta is seeking revenge but to top that, he got the Black trident’s power making him a really powerful enemy and of course, the movie yet again focused on the same ‘family concept’ that I have been recently noticed that most bring movies have been using, it’s like everyone is Dominic Toretto’s world from the Fast and Furious, who is well known for his family focused plot.

Many of my readers will notice how seldom I am to write about movie reviews lately just because of these kinds of plots, it’s just too cliché by this time to even put it in a story. In the recent Aquaman movie, all I needed was 30 minutes to even guess and predict what’s gonna happen next. The whole two hour didn’t do any justice, it was rather useless to even finish it, trying to connect it somehow for a possible justice league movie coming next, but yes, we failed, it’s nonetheless another stand alone movie of Aquaman.

The only funny thing about it was the cockroach, well, I guess that’s it. Nothing important to tie it along with the other DC movies. I guess, all in all, DC Universe is actually not moving forward anytime soon. They have been doing standalone movies every now and then. Not until they fix the loopholes on the previous mainstream movies like The Flash, Batman, Superman and Wonder Woman, I guess there’s no point of expecting anything exciting cooking soon.

This is no longer a moview if there’s no such thing as comparing it to the comics because no matter how I compare it, it no longer serves importance. I was expecting more from it, being a fan of DC Comics but I guess we really need to put back Zack Snyder back in the equation. If not, then we’ll have to expect more standalone movies rather than a possibility of crossovers anytime soon. The only series that completely made crossover a little useful were CW’s The Flash, The Arrow, Legends of Tomorrow and Supergirl. Technically, this series, given the length, they were able to make use of the comics’ important aspects and scenes, they were able to make something out of it. I hope there was something like this in the movies.

I would still give this movie the hype, given the effects and other things surfacing how they edit the whole thing, yes technology is really great. This serves a 79% wonderroanne rating.
