Unknown Number: The High School Catfish

Rating: 3 out of 5.

Imagine it is in the 90s, no smartphones, no social media and nothing…just simple hi and hello to all the friends you have and by the time the news about each other comes out, the issue is already done and resolved. What makes 90s special is that there are telephone directories and operators where you will know who called you and who tried to even contact you on your pager because everything is recorded and you can ask the operator. But we all know that we are in the 2000s, where everything is accessible and you can literally use anything anonymously, and we cannot escape the technology but what will you do if this technology ruins you and your entire life, worst, your family? Our Father: How Disturbing Is It?

The title says it all. What are the odds of having someone you look alike but you are not related? Is it as many odds as you can have to stand in the same room full of strangers but you may not know one of these strangers is your blood? What if you discovered that you are not an only child but you have a half sibling or two? But what if they are more than 50? Yes, I said fifty. Again, what are the odds, right?

In this documentary entitled, Our Father, streaming now in Netflix. this is a story about infertility and sperm donors and it is also about a Doctor Cline, the main subject of the documentary. In the title, it may seem to sound good when you read it, like that’s what I thought in the first glance before I even watch the trailer not knowing that this documentary is more interesting than what I thought.

Later then, introduced the fertility doctor of Jacoba’s mother, Doctor Cline. He has been a fertility doctor from the 70s and the 80s. He has quite the reputation because he is well known with his successful work but little did the ladies that go to him knew, after few years his successful work will mark on the history of the medical field.

The House of Secrets: The Burari Deaths

I know not every one enjoys a documentary but for me, documentaries are the best way to see the world in its real shape. I believe there are more than in the story and the subject themselves. We, as viewers can also learn from documentaries. I actually grew up watching Discover Channel, TLC and other Murder Mysteries, yes, I know, I even once dreamed of becoming a Forensic photographer but yeah, later on I think I don’t have the guts to be in that profession.

Anyway, why am I telling you this? Because just last week, October 8, Netflix has released a new documentary series entitled The House of Secrets: The Burari Deaths. This is the story about a family of 11 that was found dead in their home in Burari, India in 2018. Most of them were adults from three generations and minors. The dead bodies were found hanging as if it was a mass suicide however, some of the theories were that this is an act of murder. But the question is, how did this happen and who killed them? I know there’s so many question but in this documentary, all your questions will be asked.
