After 20 years, they finally made a remake of Lindsay Lohan’s popular movie with Rachel McAdams. This is one of the movies that hit the numbers during its released in 2004 because of its relatable story about American high school.

This is a story of Cady Heron played by Lindsay Lohan, who finally had a chance to enter school after traveling with her parents and doing home schooling. She was from Africa and she doesn’t know the hierarchy in the school setting until she entered her new school; discovering that it is not easy to find your people, Cady struggled to belong and found company with two of her only new friends, Janice and Damian.

Janice and Damian became her school manual; they introduce her to all the clicks in their school. Catching her curiosity were the Plastics, that includes Regina George, played by Rachel McAdams, the Queen of the Plastics.

Cady’s school life became hell until she discovered how to play with the plastics by using their own weaknesses to her advantage but in the long run, she managed to ruin her friendships with Janice and Damian, and she became one of them only to succeed on ruining her, or did she?

Well, we were surprised when they announced last year that Mean Girls will have a remake however, not everyone is excited or rather, informed that the movie was actually musical, instead of the normal movie like the one we have seen previously.

To our surprised too, this new musical movie, despite of having the same story as the 2004 movie, many things gave changed, especially how they actually focused on the mean girls themselves but not Cady. And well, to be honest, I’d rather watch this new movie in this Gen Z time not musical. It would’ve been fun having a new Cady not singing.

Okay fine, it’s not high school musical or Glee, but I think there are so many stories that can be remade to musical except the Mean girls. But the movie is not entirely boring, the songs are nice to hear but I guess we just really had that preference that we wanted to compare it to the old movie and having it in musical makes it harder to compare coz we’ll say the 2004 movie is better.

All in all, if we haven’t lived in 2004 and never watched the original Mean Girls movie, then we’re going to like this Mean Girls Musical but if you are an avid fan of the Regina George and Cady Heron acting, then yes, Fetch!

To be honest, both are incomparable because these movies have different focus and I think they both achieved that. It is to viewers liking on how they will look at it but both were really great (especially if you don’t compare them at all.)
